Entertaining and Educational

Posted by Dirck on 12 September, 2014

Today’s films are non-thematic.  First, because we are an educational institution (well… some kind of institution), I lift someone else’s very useful suggestions for improving handwriting.  I was very tempted to call this entry Improve Your Writing in Three and a Half Minutes!! on the strength of it.

For those who are taken with the evident performance of the pen itself– it’s the Pilot Metropolitan of which I speak so highly.

The second film is less applicable to daily life, but after yesterday’s flight from work it’s something I feel I had to dig up.  Those who have seen The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension will remember our hero being tortured by electrical stimulation of his auditory meatus.  Well, the cold I started the week with left as going away presents some kind of over-pressure device in the eustachian tubes, which yesterday gave very much the sensation of having screwdrivers inserted fully in both ears.  This being my first real earache in 42 years, I now realize just how monstrous that was; yesterday’s absence was what we might call a day off on account of agony.

I am, by the way, on the mend, but tinnitus, the loss of frequencies above about 5,000 Hz and a general feeling of having my head in a 1950s style goldfish space-helmet remain.  Hopefully this is temporary.

Today’s (and, for all that it matter’s, yesterday’s) pen: Lamy 2000
Today’s ink: Jentle blue-black
